Creativity: A Gift or a Curse?
Natural talent is as much a curse as it is a gift. You probably know someone who is a natural musician or a self-trained artist or a gifted writer, but who does very little with her talent. You may wish that some of her talent had been given to you. The naturally gifted person rarely sees her own talent as others see it. For her there is nothing special in what she does, and she may not value her abilities very highly. A closet musician is someone who learned to play without lessons, and who does not consider what he does good enough to share with others. When he is alone, he finds great enjoyment and stress release playing his music, but the moment he thinks someone is listening, he stops playing, very embarrassed at being overheard. He has little confidence in his ability.
