Seek

The search depends on the seeker. Masters can only show the way. The search depends on the seeker – what quality of being, what quality of inquiry the seeker brings to the search. Everything will depend on it, on why he is in search, what the reason is, because the reason of the search will become the cause of his growth. If the reason is wrong, from the very beginning he has taken a wrong step, and the right end cannot follow a wrong beginning. The first step is the last step also, because the first step implies in it, has in it already, the last step as a potentiality. The seed is the tree because the seed will become the tree. The end will come out of the growth of the seeker, and if from the very beginning a wrong reason exists to seek and search, then everything is going to be in vain. The masters can only show the way, they can only indicate. Everything else has to be done by you, by the disciple. The discipline is not going to be imposed; no master ever imposes a disc...

Dexter, Season 7

Image
Every week in  Slate ’s  Dexter  TV club, Katy Waldman will have an IM conversation with a different  Dexter  fan. This week, she rehashes episode 7.1 with Torie Bosch, editor of  Future Tense  at  Slate. As Season 7 opens, Dexter has just dispatched Travis Marshall, aka the Doomsday Killer —but there’s a catch. His adoptive sister Debra, newly appointed lieutenant of Miami Homicide, saw him commit the murder. Even worse, she witnessed the crime after suddenly realizing that she might harbor romantic feelings for her brother. In Episode 1, Dexter tries to convince Deb not to report him, even as he struggles to conceal his true nature as a serial killer. Torie Bosch:  I've got my rubber apron on. Let's do this thing. Katy Waldman:  One tension that I kept feeling during the episode was: How much was Dexter faking in his scenes with Debra? Was his shock and fear a performance, or was it a genuine reaction to getting caught?...

Top Search Types

Image
We determined that actually people are more interested in topics other than adult phrases online.  In this year’s version of the study, we classify the type of searches that are made in the top 100. So, you’ll see an even more defined category than what we were thinking previously.  We used to think in terms of “top websites”, “adult websites” and “top brands” , but we've realized that Everyone's searching for websites for the most part and so we need to categorize the “type” of website they’re looking for.  Even though there are MANY different permutations of adult phrases being sought after online, we do see that many people are busy being “social.”   Then again, maybe the adult content surfers don’t want Google to know they’re searching and they bookmark them instead?

A comfortable, convenient life is not a real life – the more comfortable, the less alive. The most comfortable life is in the grave. If you are alive there is inconvenience. If you are alive there are challenges. If you are alive then every moment you have to face reality , encounter reality. Every moment you have to be ready to change and to move. Reality has no security and that is its beauty. Life has no security and that is its beauty. Because there is no security, there is adventure. Because the future is unknown, nobody knows what is going to happen the next moment. That’s why there is challenge, growth, adventure. If you miss adventure, you miss all. If your life is not that of an adventure, of a search into the unknown, then you are living in vain. ~ Osho

Question: When I work with people in depth in therapy three fears continuously come up in them.

Question:  When I work with people in depth in therapy three fears continuously come up in them. It's the fear of going Crazy, it's the fear of letting go in Sexual Orgasm and the Fear of Dying. These three fears come up over and over again in my work. Can you please comment on this? Osho :  It is really very significant an existential question. In these three fears humanity has lived for thousands of years. They are not personal, they are collective. They come from the collective unconscious. The fear of going crazy is in everyone, for the simple reason, because their intelligence has not been allowed to develop. Intelligence is dangerous to the vested interest. So for thousands of years they have been cutting the very roots of intelligence. In Japan they have a certain tree which is thought to be a great art, but it is simply murder. The trees are four hundred, five hundred years old and six inches high. Generations of gardeners have taken care of them. The technique is the...

iPad Mini Rumor Roundup: Everything We Think We Know

Image
Now that the iPhone 5 is out, there's just one more thing for Apple nerds to freak out over: The iPad Mini. Rumors have been cropping up like crazy the past few weeks—enough to start putting together what we'll actually see from a 7-inch Apple tablet. So let's talk iPads.  Small  iPads. What Will It Look Like? If the accuracy of the iPhone 5 leaks is anything to go by, we've probably got a pretty good jump on what the new tablet will look like. What we've seen so far jibes with previous thoughts that the bezel on the smaller iPad will be  thinner than it is on the full sized version , due to ergonomics. Otherwise, surprise! It reportedly looks like a shrunk-down iPad (as opposed to a bigger iPod touch). There had been decent amount of conflicting speculation, but the rumor-mongers (and, more importantly, leaked images) seem to have settled on the squatter version, to the tune of a 7.85-inch diagonal measurement. And yes,  iOS can pretty easily scale down ...

What is Cloud Computing?

Cloud computing is a technology that uses the internet and central remote servers to maintain data and applications. Cloud computing allows consumers and businesses to use applications without installation and access their personal files at any computer with internet access. This technology allows for much more efficient computing by centralizing storage, memory, processing and bandwidth.

What Is Hadoop?

Hadoop is a term you will hear over and over again when discussing the processing of big data information. You might have also seen the yellow elephant image, which is the copyrighted icon depicting Hadoop (Hadoop was the name of the founder’s ( Doug Cutting’s ) son’s toy elephant). In the other post, I broke down the idea of MapReduce into the most easily digestible way possible; here is the same with Hadoop. A little history… Hadoop was born out of a need to process big data, as the amount of generated data continued to rapidly increase. As the Web generated more and more information, it was becoming quite challenging to index the content, so Google created MapReduce in 2004, then Yahoo! created Hadoop as a way to implement the MapReduce function. Hadoop is now an open-source Apache implementation project. Overall, Hadoop enables applications to work with huge amounts of data stored on various servers.  Hadoop’s functions allow the existing data to be pulled from vario...

IT Trends for 2013

1. Cloud computing – is the sky really the limit? The mother of all forecasts, Gartner 2012 Hype Cycle for Emerging Technologies, names cloud computing as one of the big developments. Cloud will have a major impact on the IT world over the next five years. However, Andreas Zilch, member of the management board of Experton Group, believes that cloud computing is currently undergoing a difficult period. The technology needs to make the leap from media hype to maturity, he says. Nevertheless, Zilch also believes this trend will have a lasting influence. And some effects can already be seen, says Mario Zillmann, senior consultant at Lünendonk. “Cloud computing is a topic that practically all IT providers are driving,” he says. Zillmann adds that it is no longer a trend, but already forms the basis for specific business models. Peter Lempp, COO of Capgemini Germany, likewise believes that the cloud has shifted from theory to practice, especially the private cloud. Lempp i...

Top Mobile Development Trends of 2013

HTML5 Takes Over Until recently, native apps drove the development community on mobile. Developer teams would assemble resources, choose an initial platform, such as iOS or Android, on which to develop a product or app and ship it at high cost both in funding and in time. But 2013 is HTML5’s year. According to Lunn, the mobile industry is coming to “a stage where a less skilled developer can write apps very fast with compatibility across multiple devices.” This “democratization” of web-based mobile development will speed the rate of mobile innovation in nearly every industry. Mobile Device Price Wars Mobile device makers across all platforms have begun to price their devices down, allowing more consumers and developers to gain access to products, payments and information. Speculation abounds that even Apple is set to announce a more affordable iPhone this year. Combined with widespread HTML5 development, mobile apps will become exponentially more affordable to develop and sh...
